German, Swiss and Austrian citizens need to enter the country with a passport, which is valid for a minimum of six more months. Moreover you need a tourist card, handed out by the responsible travel agency, the airline or the Mexican consulate. Don't worry if you didn't get one before your journey. Most of the airlines give them to you during the flight. This tourist card makes it possible to stay without visa up to 90 days in the country. If you travel with an age under 18 and without legal guardian you need a declaration of consent. Please ask you travel agency about possible frequently changed law- that way nothing can go wrong on your journey anymore.

Please note! Crucial for everyone who is entering via the US: since September 2010 everyone who is entering via the US has to apply for a chargeable ESTA authorization. It doesn't matter if you want to connect your Mexico vacation with a stay at the US of several days' duration or if you only have a short stop-over.  Here you can find the application form.
 
Duty free products, which you are allowed to take with you: things for personal use, such as clothing, shoes, toilet requisites, jewelry or electronic equipment. Moreover for travelers above the age of 18 it's possible to carry up to 400 cigarettes duty free or 50 cigars or 250g tobacco and 3 liters of wine or spirits. Prohibited are fruits, plants and flowers. Please get informed about actual customs regulations before starting your jurney, for example at the Department of Foreign Affairs.
